Economic Development

Recognizing the importance of economic development in Perry’s future, civic leaders purchased vacant, unimproved land through the creation of the Perry Development Coalition, Inc., a not-for- profit corporation. The acres purchased by the coalition were subsequently transferred to the City of Perry and became the Perry Commercial Park. The City of Perry has subsequently purchased property for two additional parks: the Perry Industrial Park, and the South Commercial Park.

The land has since been improved and features include:

  • Vacant sites with water, sewer, and electric utilities installed

  • Sites that are “Shovel Ready”

  • 16,000 vehicles pass the three parks daily

  • All available sites feature easy access to Interstate 35

  • 40 miles south to Interstates 40 & 44 in Oklahoma City

  • 190 miles north to Interstate 70 in Salina, Kansas

  • Railroad tracks operated by BNSF go east and west go through the parks although there is no spur

  • Properties are zoned General Commercial or Industrial.

The Commercial Park is subject to restrictive covenants regarding quality appearance. The City of Perry offers a variety of incentives designed to promote the development of the park, as well as the success of businesses that choose to reside in the park and most available properties can be divided into smaller tracts.

North Commercial Park

Perry Commercial Park, or the North Commercial Park, is the original development area established by the City of Perry. The park is currently home to three hotels, a city-owned baseball complex, a car dealership, and a regional distribution center for Anheuser-Busch. The park sits immediately adjacent to Interstate 35 and offers excellent visibility from the road. A new access road was completed in 2016 and additional roads could be constructed as part of any development. The park is served with municipally-owned water, sewer, and electric utilities. The city administration is available to discuss incentives to locate businesses into the park.

South Commercial Park

Established in 2013, the South Commercial Park consists of 120 acres immediately adjacent to the western boundary of Interstate 35 and just south of Highway 77. The South Commercial Park has municipal water, sewer and electric utilities located at or adjacent to the area. The property can be subdivided into smaller tracts and is currently zoned general commercial. The park offers excellent visibility from Interstate 35 as well as Highway 77. The city administration is available to discuss incentives to locate businesses into the park.

Industrial Park

The Perry Industrial Park is an 80-acre tract of real property located just west of the western boundary of the Perry Commercial Park. The Perry Industrial Park features multiple lots available for industrial development. The park is currently home to RN Concrete, manufacturers of concrete storm shelters as well as other concrete products. An industrial road transects the park providing excellent access to all available lots and quick access to Interstate 35. Though no spur is currently available, railroad tracks operated by BNSF travel east and west immediately adjacent to the south side of the park. Municipally-owned water, sewer and electric utilities are available. The city administration is available to discuss incentives to locate businesses into the park.
