It's time again for the annual Citywide Cleanup day! This year, the event will take place on Saturday, April 13th from 8am to 12pm down at the Street Department. This is a great opportunity to rid yourself of those larger items that aren't suitable for dropping off at the curb!
As in previous years, we'll accept a variety of things, but here is a list of common items worth mentioning:
Furniture
Appliances
Carpet/Pads
BBQ Grills
Mowers
Scrap Metal
Household Items (Large and Small)
Vacuum Cleaners
Tires Off The Rim
General Junk
That's not an exhaustive list of what you can get rid of, but it should give you at least a few things to think about! Brush, yard waste, used motor oil, hydraulic fluid, and anti-freeze all go to the Convenience Center at 1601 East Boundary Street. We can't take them at Street Department. We can take tires, but they must be off the rim before you bring them to us. Also, no paint, commercial waste, herbicides, pesticides, or other toxic chemicals, please. Finally, all household garbage must be bagged before bringing it to the drop off.
If you are unable to haul items yourself, call 336-4241 to request a special pickup before 4pm on Friday, April 12th. Items to be picked up must be brought to the curb prior to pickup. City crews cannot enter homes to retrieve items.
Perry Recycles! will also be open that day over at the Armory. They'll have a special schedule of 8am - 11:30am because of Citywide Cleanup, so be sure to take your recyclables over there.
We're looking forward to another great cleanup day this year. Let's make Perry beautiful!
