Duck blind applications are open

Starting this year, the process for getting a duck blind at Perry Lake is a little bit different. Blinds will be chosen using a lottery system, and anyone interested in getting a duck blind will have to apply to be entered into a drawing. The cost to apply is $100, and applications and payments can be submitted at City Hall. You can apply up to two times, and the final day to apply will be July 31st.

This year, the drawing will be held at the Noble County Ducks Unlimited Dinner on August 10th, but attendance is not required to win. The winners will be notified by mail (or email) that they were selected. Winners will be allowed to choose their preferred blind based on the order in which they were drawn. A maximum of two blinds can be held by any one person per season.

Being chosen as a winner doesn't automatically commit you to a blind, just the opportunity to get one. If you elect to take a blind, the fee is $400 as well as a $20 seasonal hunt permit. Some blinds are only accessible by boat which will require an annual boat permit of $25.

We have worked with our local game warden to designate appropriate locations for the blinds. A total of 18 blinds are available through the drawing, and a map of those locations will be released at a later date. A copy of the map will automatically be mailed (or emailed) to anyone that has entered the drawing as well as being posted to the city website. Questions can be directed to the Parks Department at 580-572-9465 or parks@cityofperryok.com.

Good luck, hunters!
